Compare: Confluence
A Confluence alternative engineers will actually write in
Confluence is the default enterprise wiki, and it shows: page trees, macros and settings everywhere. Foliosodev is a lightweight Confluence alternative for engineering teams that want spaces and permissions without the sprawl.
Where Foliosodev is different
- Open, closed and private spaces with viewer, editor and admin roles, granted to people or teams
- Flat groups and tags, with child pages kept to three levels, so nothing gets buried in a deep page tree
- Live co-editing with cursors and conflict-free merging
- Code blocks and diagrams that engineers actually want to write in
- OpenID Connect SSO, two-factor and audit logs without an enterprise contract

Moving across from Confluence
There is no importer. Recreate your top-level spaces first, then copy across the pages people still open; most wikis have a long tail that nobody will miss.
Frequently asked questions
Does Foliosodev integrate with Jira?
No. Foliosodev has a REST API for reading and writing pages, but no built-in Jira integration. If your documentation lives inside Jira workflows, Confluence fits that better.
Does Foliosodev have spaces and permissions like Confluence?
Yes, in a simpler shape: open, closed and private spaces, viewer, editor and admin roles, and grants to people or whole teams.
Can we use single sign-on?
Yes. Foliosodev supports single sign-on through OpenID Connect, alongside password sign-in. SAML is not supported.
